“So…the guy. A dad at Ari’s school?” Roo finally asked as we dug into the gourmet food Lennox brought over, the dogs begging at our feet.

The ones I just suffered through a photoshoot with in front of the white sheet that was supposed to be used for future spank bank material photos of Lennox.

You know, those and the ones for the bake sale ads, of course.

“Yeah,” I said, not wanting to elaborate.

“His name…Lennox…it sounds like he’s the former lead singer of a screamo band from the early 2000s. Is that why he looks kind of familiar?” she asked, raising her eyebrows.

“Seriously? You don’t recognize him?”

Sure, maybe it took me a moment, too, but now that I knew, sometimes all I could see was the boy on the poster who graced my walls. Then, of course, he’d kiss me, and I’d feel the very real man in front of me.

“Maybe? Did he go to school with us or something? You were three years ahead of me, so it’s not like I knew everyone in your class.”

I sighed. “He’s a former actor. Remember on that show with the adopted, blended family we used to watch every Friday night?”

“Lennox Reign? That is the Lennox Reign?” Her voice raised to a squeal as her eyes widened.

I nodded, trying to be nonchalant about the whole thing even though every time anyone said his name, my heart tended to skip a beat. “Yup. That’s him.”
